GHSG and EORTC/GELA Early-Stage Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma Risk Groups
A source-specific guide to the GHSG HD10/HD11-era and EORTC/GELA H9-U definitions.
What this route interprets
The GHSG and EORTC/GELA Early-Stage Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma Risk Groups calculator applies one of two locked historical definitions:
- GHSG HD10/HD11 era
- EORTC/GELA H9-U
It is for complete pretreatment baseline data in newly diagnosed classical Hodgkin lymphoma. It excludes an unversioned NCCN option, pediatric protocols, NCIC/ECOG or Stanford definitions, advanced-stage IPS, and PET-response algorithms.
Exact source differences
| Rule | GHSG HD10/HD11 era | EORTC/GELA H9-U |
|---|---|---|
| Mediastinal mass | 3 x mass width > intrathoracic width | 100 x mass width >= 35 x intrathoracic width |
| Nodal count | At least 3 areas on the GHSG 11-area map | At least 4 areas on the EORTC five-area supradiaphragmatic map |
| ESR without B symptoms | >50 mm/h | >=50 mm/h |
| ESR with B symptoms | >30 mm/h | >=30 mm/h |
| Age | Not a listed factor | >=50 years |
| Extranodal disease | Listed factor | Not a listed H9-U factor |
The app compares raw widths by cross multiplication. It does not round a displayed ratio before classification.
Applicability
GHSG interpretation requires stage I/II, newly diagnosed, untreated classical Hodgkin lymphoma with the GHSG nodal map and complete baseline data. Stage IIB with B symptoms plus either a large mediastinal mass or extranodal disease is reported as the GHSG advanced treatment-group boundary; IIB with ESR or nodal factors alone remains early-unfavorable/intermediate.
EORTC/GELA H9-U interpretation is restricted to untreated stage I/II supradiaphragmatic classical Hodgkin lymphoma in the source age range of 15 through 70 years, using the EORTC nodal map.
Stage III/IV disease, nonclassical histology, relapse/refractory disease, during/post-treatment assessment, incomplete staging, and mismatched nodal maps are not interpreted as ordinary early-stage groups.
Safe interpretation
The result is a historical source-specific group and a list of matched factors. It is not a numeric prognostic score, relapse or survival probability, treatment-cycle or dose instruction, drug/radiotherapy recommendation, PET escalation/de-escalation rule, or substitute for current multidisciplinary assessment.
